He's Luke. She's Leia.
Just like in Star Wars. Just like they’re made for each other. Same film studies course, different backgrounds, different ends of town.
Only this isn't a film. This is real life. This is where monsters from the past come back to take revenge. This is where you are sometimes the monster.
But real life? Sometimes, only sometimes, it turns out just like in the movies…
Don't let the neon pink cover of this book fool you. This story is jam packed full of violence, action and boys, but It's About Love by Steven Camden is just that. A love story between family, friends, a boy and a girl, and how that just may be enough to save you.
The story follows sixteen year old film Student, Luke Henry, in the week leading up to his older brothers release from prison, and how past events continue to haunt him after.
There is something about the way that Camden writes that makes you want to read each word, breath in each sentence and exhale nothing because you don't want to miss a single moment of this beautiful yet haunting story. I don't think I have ever read a novel so thoroughly as I did with this one. I am not sure if it is Camden's writing or Luke that I've fallen for, but I guess it's a bit of both. Simple but layered. The characters, the location, the emotions are real. It's About Lovesimply makes you feel.
I won this book in a giveaway Harper Collins were running; with no idea what the story was about, I entered and I am so glad that this story fell into my life. It's About Love is one of those deep yet somewhat feel good books that leaves you feeling satisfied and changed at the end of it.
It's About Love by Steven Camden is going to sit proudly on my book case. I recommend this to you all without hesitation as it has easily become one of my favourite reads. Now, to go and buy Camden's debut novel Tape as I have not had enough of his writing yet!
