Worlds divide, magic slays, and love lies in the second book of Josephine Angelini’s The Worldwalker Trilogy.
"You think I’m a monster, but my choices, as ruthless as they seem, are justified."
Lily is back in her own universe, and she's ready to start a new life with Rowan by her side. True, she almost died in the Pyre that fueled their escape from New Salem, and must hide her magic for the safety of everyone she cares about, but compared to fighting the Woven, the monstrous creatures inhabiting the alternate Salem, life is looking pretty good.
Unfortunately, Lillian, ruthless ruler of the 13 Cities, is not willing to let Lily go that easily. If she can’t persuade Lily to return to her world, she will force her to come back by doing away with the ones she loves.
Josephine Angelini's Trial By Fire was one of the most incredible books I read last year, and, dare I say, ever! This unique and action packed fantasy read had me hooked from the very start and Firewalker definitely did not disappoint.
With the story moving on it was great to see Rowan experiencing our world and Angelini does a fantastic job of making this realistic. I really loved Rowan's reaction to our world, and the worlds to Rowan. When you love a book so much it is hard not to worry about the sequels that follow, and if the story is going to live up to your expectations, but there is no need to with this series for the characters grow and it is even more action packed and magical than ever!
Lily has to be one of my favourite characters. It was good to see how her character moved on with the story, growing as a leader but still kept her nature at heart, which I think is a rare find with strong female leads in YA. The innocence she shared with Rowan and the teenage qualities she held now back in her world verses the powerful witch burning within her.
The Worldwalker Trilogy is quickly becoming one of my favourites! With new characters, romance, action and friendships kindled Firewalker had me laughing with the characters and crying at heart wrenching moments throughout.
A definitely recommendation. The Worldwalker Trilogy is one that everybody should experience!
