Daughter of the Pirate King was the most fun I’ve had in awhile. This book was a blast to read! For months now it has been rare for me to sit down and read a whole book in a day but after starting DotPK there was just no way I wasn’t finishing it as fast as I could.
Tricia Levenseller has done an amazing job with this debut. It’s actually kind of hard for me to believe that this book IS a debut, because it to me read like it was written by a seasoned author. There were just so many great things about this book that all piled together to make me love it!
The story of DotPK is fast-paced, action-packed, and completely original. I loved that the whole time I was guessing about what would happen next, turning pages as quickly as possible just to see where the story would go. This is definitely one of those books that I’m going to kick myself for devouring immediately because now the wait for the sequel is going to be completely terrible.
I remember when I first received an ARC for DotPK one of my first thoughts was that it might be fun to cosplay as the character on the cover. Now after finally reading it, I will definitely be crafting an Alosa costume. I can see Alosa easily becoming one of my favorite YA leading ladies. She’s quick-witted, hilarious, stubborn in the best way possible, and a red head. What more can I ask for? The whole cast of this book was really fun, but Alosa just steals the show from the first page.
I’m definitely going to have to reread Daughter of the Pirate King a few times while I impatiently wait for the sequel. It’s such a fun, fast read, I’ve already started recommending it to everyone and have even pre ordered extra copies to force on my friends. I’m going to go ahead and say that Daughter of the Pirate King is going to be one of my favourite books of 2017!
