A young woman awakes trapped in an enclosed space. She has no idea who she is or how she got there. With only her instincts to guide her, she escapes her own confinement—and finds she’s not alone. She frees the others in the room and leads them into a corridor filled with the remains of a war long past. The farther these survivors travel, the worse are the horrors they confront. And as they slowly come to understand what this prison is, they realize that the worst and strangest possibilities they could have imagined don’t even come close to the truth.
Wow. Wow wow wow wow.
I was just complaining about not discovering any authors recently that write such amazing books that I want to read every word they have ever written in a week. Well, I spoke too soon. I feel so late to the game with Scott Sigler's book, but hey, better late than never, right?
I'm not going to say anything about this story. Trust me, it's best if you go into this book knowing absolutely nothing. That's what I did and it made for an incredible reading experience.
My favorite thing about ALIVE was the growing sense of foreboding that kept on and on throughout most of the book. For me, the tension built and built until it reached a climax, and then it was non-stop action to the last page.
ALIVE was so well written. I could picture everything and everyone, the characters stayed in character throughout the whole book, the story is equal parts thrilling and intriguing. The ending was completely satisfying, but enough of a cliffhanger to make me want book two in my hands right now.
I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys awesome things, and I personally cannot wait to read more of Sigler's books. If the rest are as good as ALIVE, he is going on my favorite authors shelf.
