We didn't realise we were making memories.
we just knew we were having fun.

I left my heart in New York City...
Never has a quote felt true at this moment.
Okay, so I am yet to see a lot of the world that is beyond this little island of the United Kingdom but my latest adventure to the Big Apple was beyond what I could have imagined. It has always been a dream of mine to visit America and so my expectations were high but from the moment I left my house the morning of my trip to the moment the plane touched back down at the end of the week, New York City somehow managed to capture my heart.
America is a dream land to me. I always had these big dreams growing up of going there and doing something amazing, and New York truly lived up to my expectations. But what truly made it for me was that I got to share the experience with my amazing best friend.
Our days were filled with the most incredible food and experiences, sometimes all in one thanks to the truly talented staff at Ellen's Stardust Diner. Nothing says New York like eating a burger while cheering your waiter on as he sings Britney Spears on the table tops, throwing straws like they are confetti! Definitely a place to add to your list if you plan the city.
But aside from the food, New York holds so many incredible places to visit! Throughout the week we made out way through the tourist sites including The Statue of Liberty (which despite what the guides tell you, you only need to allow any hour to do, that's more than enough time to take it in and get your pictures), see the incredible view from the Rockefeller Centre and see the night come to life from The Ride!
The Ride is something my friend wanted to do and I just went along with it thinking that it was going to be just another bus tour. Boy, was I wrong! Unlike the other bus tours in the city this one gives you Broadway, humour and the honesty of New Yorkers all rolled into one tour where the bus itself plays a character and the people in the crowds outside the bus come to life and join in in a unique and hilarious way!
One of my favourite places during the trip was a place we stumbled across during a walk. Before going I had heard a lot about it and was incredibly excited to get the chance to go.
Books of Wonder...

I had yet to visit a book store that was purely dedicated to YA and children's books but that is what Books of Wonder have done and I so wish more than anything that I could bring this place back to England with me! Though during my visit they were setting up for an event the following day with Dhonielle Clayton, author of newly released The Belles, it was fantastic to see the atmosphere the store held and the passion of those working there. Books of Wonder should definitely be on the bucket list of all you book worms out there!
My trip to New York City is up there in the top moments of my life so far. From the incredible performance of Kinky Boots and their hilarious English accents, to the shopping sprees on Fifth Avenue, this place and the memories I made there will remain in the heart of this country loving gal always!
